PRODUCT DETAILS

Masaru Kohno, 1926-1980, is perhaps the most renowned luthier in Japan. In 1959, he went to Spain and studied with the luthier Arcangel Fernandez. Returning to Japan with his luthiers knowledge taken straight from the source. Julian Bream, among other renowned classical guitar players, began playing Kohno guitars and Kohno quietly built his reputation as the top luthier in Japan and one of the top luthiers in the world. Kohno not only paved the way for Japan's involvement in the production of guitar and other instruments, he defied stereotypes of craftsmanship and manufacturing in the East.

The model No. 10 is one of Kohno's earliest models, featuring a 660 mm scale and 52.5 mm nut. Each instrument is handmade by Kohno himself. Because of his attention to detail and small batch production, there are a limited number of these instruments floating around, and there are fewer and fewer of them coming up. We were lucky enough to get our hands on one in our shop, and are very excited to get this collector's item and instrument of outstanding quality into the hands of someone who can truly appreciate its uniqueness and history.
