What we LOVE!

Dennis Cornell has been hand building amplifiers for nearly 50 years now and has built them for the likes of Eric Clapton, Brian May, Gary Moore, Noel Gallagher and many others - what’s more he’s done this without any marketing as these artists have sought him out personally to require a ‘Cornell Build’ due to his reputation with building some of the best amplifiers around. Indeed some eagle eyed people have seen Clapton play gigs with Cornell amps on stage despite being sponsored by Fender (who make pretty awesome amps themselves) and Eric having to pay a fine when using other amps during the gig : he must really appreciate the tone he gets from Dennis’ amps!! Why is this?? Well Dennis started off his career in amps and pedals by building the Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face pedals for the likes of our Jimi Hendrix amongst others - spending ours separating out the ‘amazing sounding’ germanium transistors that gave Hendrix his unique sound from the duds - and backing the day, for every 5 great sounding transistors there were 95 ‘duds’ ‘ So I became pretty good at soldering and being able to tell by ear what was going to make an amazing overdrive sound almost by sight back in those times ..’ says Dennis when we managed to get 8 of his original Fuzz Face pedals off him that were built over 59 years ago… Fast forward half a century and Cornell amps are one of the UKs best kept secrets : no fancy marketing and YouTube tone tests yet we find every time we land a pallet of his amps they sell out faster than you can say ‘UK hand wired tube amp!’
