What a treat we have here! A truly wonderful Martin 00-42SC Stagecoach Edition. This is the John Mayer Signature: a compact and easy to handle guitar with a warm and well-balanced tone. Masterfully handcrafted by the gifted Custom Shop luthiers.

The Custom Shop John Mayer 00-42SC Artist model features a unique rosette design. The fretboard normally covers the rosette but in this case it is continued as an inlay in the fretboard. A one-of-a-kind and complicated design which requires high precision craftsmanship. The premium grade Cocobolo gives her warmth and good attack. All Abalone inlay work in the well-known 42-style design. The “SC” stands for stagecoach, hearkening back to an era when guitars were taken on trains, wagons, and horses for bringing people together in song. This Martin 00-42SC John Mayer is the perfect fingerpicking instrument. It features a 47.6 mm (1 7/8″) neck width and the 12-fret neck to body construction.

John Mayer about ‘his’ Martin 00-42SC: ‘the idea is to have a guitar that is smaller, that you can take it on a bus, you can take it on vacation, you could take it anywhere you wanted to go, but that when you opened the case you would have a beautiful, perfect, ornate guitar that you don’t really see anymore. The neck is a true specs 00-45 neck. In fact the whole guitar is of the period! The other idea is to continue the abalone inlay in the fretboard. Brilliantly done by the Martin luthiers. It almost gives the effect as if it’s glowing underneath the neck! Every detail on this beauty makes her stand out in the crowd big time. You will know this guitar from a mile away.
