Designed by southern Californian native and Fender Custom Shop legend Paul Waller, the Fender Custom Shop 1953 Tele sports a host of stunning features that combine to give you an axe that harkens back to the heyday of the humble Telecaster.

Paul Waller joined Fender in 2003, and became a Master Builder in 2010, building stunning instruments including basses for Adam Clayton, Strats for Buddy Guy and even the legendary "Hitmaker" Strat for Nile Rodgers. When he was tasked with designing this 1953 Tele series, he really knocked it out the park. From the Handwound Twisted Tele pickup set to the '53 Soft "V" neck carve (based off of a unique neck Paul keeps in his desk drawer!), this guitar takes everything that made those early days of the Telecaster great, and brings them bang-up-to-date.

Using a hand picked Team of no more than 4 top Custom shop luthiers, Paul overseas every aspect of build and production - even letting go of some of his ‘private Masterbuilder ‘ wood stash to ensure the guitar hits all the right notes both visually and tonally. The guitar is then only released when it is literally ‘signed off’ with a Paul Waller Team Built stamp showing it has reached his exacting expectations. For those demanding few for whom a full Masterbuild is just slightly out of reach but they want as close as possible - the Team Built route under the watchful eyes of their favourite Masterbuilder is the way to go!
