Take it from the top
The Precision Bass, first produced in October 1951, is such a special instrument. Because if Clarence Leo Fender were to be remembered for nothing else, surely it would be the Precision—an instrument — indeed a whole new kind of instrument — that simply didn’t exist before he invented it, that would forever ensure his place in history. For while all the other great Fender products of the decade certainly affected the ability of musicians to use the rhythm section to literally drive the rock era and the guitar greats would be nowhere without this staple of rock upon which to build their music; the Precision Bass profoundly affected music and has remained a classic, a desirable classic, since its inception.

This particular guitar has to be seen to be be loved and is an ‘all original’ 1976 P-Bass - The comfort contoured body is made of ash and with an iconic figure. The quality maple neck sports a 20 fret premium rosewood fingerboard, the original split coil humbucking pickup delivers rumbling howling and growling great tone.

And at Art of Guitar when we say ‘all original’ we mean exactly that...
Original tuners, bridge, thumbrest, covers, and black pickguard round out the package. All parts were authenticated during the sourcing process through our tried and trusted vintage partner. Then double authenticated once on-site : during the deep clean and set-up process we photograph all parts, match up serial numbers and provide all this providence along with the purchase - you'll know for sure that this is the Real Deal!

The bass is finished in THE classic sunburst and really looks great against the chrome hardware. This bass has that killer vintage vibe and tone in spades. In fact the only thing beating the looks is the sound and you really need to try it to know what we mean. Best bass guitar in our store? I’d say so!

Finally for playability the neck is comfortable, straight and although not light as a feather (premium tonewoods delivering sustain in the lower registers need to be sturdy) it is manageable for long sessions on stage, at home or in the studio.

Final word - What sets this particular piece apart is its condition - we’re sure someone bought this around 50 years ago, placed it in a time capsule and here it is! We’ve seen US made basses of 2 years age look worse for wear - the quality of the parts and craftsmanship must have been literally out of this world for it to look and play like it does right now. So to say this is a really nice looking and sounding 45 year old vintage bass guitar would be the under-statement of the decade!

It has of course hade a full Pro setup in house meaning every part of this guitar is original from the day it was born (strings excepted!) and it’s ready to rock when you are!

This is a heck of a players guitar - it looks and sounds so cool you could be John Entwistle stood there with Roger Daltry and Pete Townsend by your side. But....

It is also an investment piece - Fender, try as they might, just can’t make any more original 70s P Basses and each year the number dwindles further driving the price steadily upwards - play this beauty for 5-10 years and then see your investment double when it’s time to move on - what’s not to love!!!
