"My name is Michael Greenfield and I am passionate about tone. Great tone. FAT tone. I believe in squeezing every last molecule of tone out of my guitars".
Michael Greenfield
As a professional musician in the 1970s, Michael Greenfield started setting up and repairing electric guitars. His passion for repairing and restoring vintage and antique guitars grew over time, and by the 1990s, he had turned it into a full-fledged career. This experience allowed him to gain an invaluable education by examining, measuring, playing, and listening to the iconic pre-war and early 20th-century instruments. He learned the common issues that may arise with these guitars in the future and took steps to engineer them out of his own instruments.
Over the years, Michael has worked on the guitars of many musicians, which has nurtured his understanding of how to address the diverse needs of players with varying repertoire, styles, and musical preferences. He brings all of this expertise to his craft and current work, with the goal of not just satisfying but thrilling his customers with their new guitar.
How does he do it?
Michael Greenfield is dedicated to crafting extraordinary musical instruments. Michael continually researches the history, mechanics, dynamics, and physics of the guitar to cultivate a deeper understanding of what makes it work and how he can continue to advance his instruments.
