Lowden GL Models

The GL Electric Series originally came about when George Lowden was asked by Ed Sheeran to design an electric guitar for Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody. George went away on a design retreat and thought about everything he would want from an electric guitar, and how the design would fit with the Lowden aesthetic and values. The result was the Lowden GL-10, combining the finest natural wood finishes with the impeccable craftsmanship and attention to detail associated with every Lowden Guitar.

This year at NAMM 2025 we launched the new GL-10 models and introduced the GL-J model. These models come with the following top options-

  • Natural Maple
  • Stained Maple
  • Walnut
  • Koa
  • Tasmanian Blackwood
  • Ebony

The single cut design of the GL-10/GL-10c pairs instantly recognisable Lowden characteristics and carefully crafted contours with unique design features finely tuned for that signature tone and sustain.

The GL-J is lighter in weight than the GL-10 because of the semi-hollow design, it can be more comfortable during long gigs. It’s exceedingly comfortable, and of course the neck contour is like the GL-10 so the very smooth sound is matched by being so easy to play.
