PRODUCT DETAILS
A stunning new arrival at Art of Guitar - from one of the worlds premium guitar luthiers his top of the range offering is now available right here in the Middle East.
For Les Paul shaped guitars the 1959 is seen as the holy grail of electric guitars, from its iconic neck carve and its much-lauded PAF humbuckers to its uncompromising weight and instantly recognisable burst.
Prices for an original can stretch into 6 figures but fast-forward over 60 years and some of the worlds best luthiers armed with much more knowledge in guitar building than ever before are producing ever improved variants on the classic.
German luthier Nik Huber has been building his own interpretations of the iconic single-cut 1959 derivative for over 20 years now and here we have a guitar that has arrived at the pinnacle of aesthetics, construction and impeccable tone.
Nik Huber's pedigree is no secret. Having been mentored by Paul Reed Smith in the 1990s, it's fair to say that the knowledge and guidance gained from Paul was what lead to the foundation of Nik Huber Guitars, and the designs that have graced his catalogue ever since.
The Orca '59 is Nik's homage to the aformentioned historical Gibson model of 1959, but is very much built for the modern day player. A Mahogany and Cedar body is topped by a carved Maple top, featuring sensational curly maple figuring. A signature feature of many of Nik's guitars is his semi-gloss nitrocellulose top finish with an open-pore finish on the back and neck.
Speaking of the neck; Nik and his team take great care in designing necks for incredible comfort. The Orca '59 has a deeper profile than most 1959 Les Pauls that you'd find, but its round-shouldered design is a joy to play and Nik's heel scoop on the treble side is a satisfying addition that makes upper fret access a real pleasure.
The exceptional figuring of the curved maple top is an absolute joy to behold. This guitar looks as good as it sounds!
Comes complete with handwritten certificate, Brazilian Rosewood CITES certificate and hand scribed custom case. This guitar comes to us in exceptional pre-loved condition having been built in 2019 but cared for and stored impeccably with no dings or marks of any kind.
