Martin D45 Authentic Series

This is one killer Martin D-45 Authentic! The flagship model this predates the move to the ‘modern’ spec and has killed vintage tone and drop dead looks to boot! Complete with premium Rosewood and Adirondack Red Spruce, Forward Shifted Bracing, full Hide Glue construction and Thin Nitro Finish.

This awesome Martin D-45 Authentic has it all. Superb looks and even more important: from a tonal point of view, I doubt if it gets better besides the pre-war sisters. This one is amongst the best of the best: very well-balanced notes all over the fretboard. Flatpicking, strumming and fingerpicking, this magnificent instrument will boost your playing across the spectrum and lead you to new musical horizons. Martin used the Authentic moniker to identify an original spec build and if you crave that classic vintage Martin sound and awesome looks but want a beautifully made modern variation of the classic then this is the one. Scalloped bracing is more aggressive compared to a standard scallop and gives more mid range to the tone to balance those Dreadnought bass notes. Essentially there is more wood shaved from the Braces and the X brace is a little tighter fit. This variation of scalloping helps the tone and responsiveness, by letting the top vibrate more freely. She also has the pre-war all Mahogany ‘Full Thickness- 30’s Style Heel’ neck with the T-bar instead of the adjustable truss rod. This neck is comparable with the modified low ovel in the lower regions and comes close to the ‘Classic’ neck profile above the 10th fret. No more adjustments of the neck, whatever the condition. This baby won’t bend and thus direct all the energy of the strings to the bridge and then straight into the top. Incredible dynamic tone! Whether you play gentle or loud, she always gives that lush rich Dreadnought tone only Martin can build.

The aged toner Spruce top is top grade – rarely seen these days – incredibly tight grain. The straight grain of the back and sides reveal quartersawn Rosewood reminiscent of the pre-war Brazilian Rosewood. The modern Martin D-45 is a distinctive guitar and top of the line. But this D-45 has settled in, opened up and is way above that mark tonally and in looks. Premium tonewoods and Golden Era build techniques have led to an outstanding guitar in tone and looks. Plus, the bonus hand engraved Waverly gold open back tuners. Sweet! In short, this D-45 is amongst the very best sounding and looking Martin guitars one can get. The guitar of choice for legends like Gene Autry and Neil Young, Steven Stills and John Mayer. Even Jimi Hendrix owned and played one back in the days. It’s the perfect guitar for any guitar aficionado & collector. Nice low action. Plays like butter! She has seen some very light play but obviously been cared for very very well and only shows the slightest signs of use whilst benefitting from those additional years that a new Martin will take to open up and sound like the very best the Dreadnought has to offer.

There’s a reason the D45 from Martin is the worlds most famous Dreadnought. Want to find out why for yourself then swing by Art of Guitar asap as this beauty won’t hang around. Martin D45 - The Art of Guitar
